| Leaving a gift in your will
After providing for your family and friends, have you thought about leaving a legacy to the Society and helping a cause that you have supported during your lifetime? Leaving a gift in your will would help the one baby born every eight days in the UK diagnosed with an MPS or Related Disease and give them hope for the future. Although we cannot give you advice about making a will, we would like to know if you have left a legacy so that we can plan for the future. A will also avoids confusion about your intentions and gives you peace of mind. The Society would suggest that you should seek legal advice if you are considering making or updating a will. See below how we can help. In Memorium In Memoriam enables mourners to contribute to the work of the Society. Once the gift is received from the funeral directors, we will advise the next of kin of the total amount of donations received. It is possible to state in your will which charity is to be the recipient of In Memoriam gifts. New Will Writing Service Making a will is a simple process for most people, yet less than half of us have ever prepared a will. It is a common misconception that the surviving spouse will automatically inherit everything. Without a will, children have an automatic right to a share in the estate, which can lead to financial difficulties for the surviving spouse. Making a will ensures that your assets are passed on in accordance with your wishes. For unmarried couples a will is essential, as there is generally no automatic right for the surviving partner to inherit. This can lead to difficult situations, often with the survivor left with no assets and potentially no house either. Where there are children, a will can also provide for guardianship to be set up should anything happen to both parents. Without a will, it will be a decision by a Court on the best person to bring them up. Sovereign can also advise on setting up Disabled Child Trusts to ensure full protection for your children. Another benefit of making a will is the potential for reducing your liability to Inheritance Tax. For families with assets in excess of £300,000, the saving can be as much as £120,000. Sovereign Will and Probate Services is a national company, offering home visits to discuss the requirements for your will and to take your instructions.
