University of Manchester ESTABLISHMENT OF A SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP AND RESEARCH GROUP IN STEM CELL BIOLOGY APPLIED TO INHERITED METABOLIC DISEASES, INCLUDING MPS. The Research Fellow, an independent scientific position within the school of Medicine of the University of Manchester will over a five year period develop a research portfolio in stem cell biology relevant to Mucopolysccharide and related diseases, necessarily collaborating with relevant colleagues at the RMCH. The thinking behind this project is to build on the knowledge and achievements of the stem cell research group led by Dr Rob Wynne and Dr Ed Wraith at the RMCH funded through the MPS programme grant (2000-2003). This will included taking forward work with human mesenchymal stem cells (HMSC), which are promising tools in the fields of transplantation and gene therapy.
